Wayne L. Maschhoff 78 of Hoyleton, passed away at 2:26 a.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2023 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon surrounded by his family. He was born on June 23, 1945 in Centralia, the son of Lester and Esther Unverfehrt Maschhoff. He married Jacqueline Blumhorst on August 30, 1969 at St. Salvatore Lutheran Church in Venedy. Besides his wife of 54 years, he is survived by 5 sons; Christopher (Sarah), Bradley (Tesha) and Brent (Rebecca) Maschhoff all of Nashville, Scott (Shelly) Maschhoff of Hoffman and Patrick (Jennifer) Maschhoff of Nashville. A daughter Andrea (Keith) Rulevish of DuBois. 11 grandchildren; Ryan (Jessica) Spenner, Olivia (Michael) Haselhorst, Alex Spenner, Jacob, Abby, Grace, Allison, Chloe and Ella Maschhoff, Brantley and Braxton Rulevish. 3 great grandchildren; Nolan and Ada Spenner and Kacen Kurtz. A sister Betty (Stanley) Baker of Carlyle, Brother in law Daniel (Linda) Blumhorst of Venedy and a sister in law Janice (Norm) Seiz of Plainfield, IN along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a daugher Jennifer and a brother Roger.
Wayne served in the Army National Guard and was self employed. He was a member of the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton where he previously served on the school board. He was a member of the former Hoyleton Lions Club. He loved to bake coffee cakes and pies, attend his children’s sporting activities and spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday,December 12, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by the Nashville American Legion Post #110. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton or the Washington County Relay For Life. Styninger Funeral and Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
