Thretta Hassell, 99 of Hoyleton, passed away at 12:25 p.m. on Monday, May 11, 2026 at Centralia Manor in Centralia. She was born on October 3, 1926 in Ellisnore, MO, the daughter of Eddie and Lola Blake Martin. She married Dale W. Hassell on January 17, 1944 in St. Louis, MO and he passed away on January 30, 2012. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 3 brothers; John L, Paul and Cleve Martin. 3 Sisters; Martha Lee Martin, Dolly Shoemaker and Doris Siebe and a great grandchild.
Left to mourn her passing are 2 sons; Douglas Dale (Elaine) Hassel and Tom (Ann) Hassell both of Hoyleton. A daughter Paulette (Marion) Leonburger of Palm Coast, FL and several grandchildren, great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.
Thretta was the book keeper and secretary for her and her husband’s business Hassell Lumber Company in Huegley and managed the Hen House in Centralia. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton and the Nashville chapter of Order of Eastern Star.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the staff of Centralia Manor for the excellent care given to Thretta over the years.
Graveside funeral service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, May 15, 2026 at Zion United Church of Christ Cemetery in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Friends are asked to meet at the cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church of Hoyleton or Zion UCC Cemetery. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
