Sue Heggemeier Obituary

Suzanne “Sue” Heggemeier, 85 of Nashville, passed away at 9:25 p.m. on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville.  She was born on August 21, 1933 in Monticello, the daughter of Henry and Ethel Gill Simms.  She married Robert Heggemeier on June 16, 1954 at Little Prairie Christian Church in Albion and he survives in Nashville.  Besides her husband of 64 years, she is survived by 2 sons; David (Isabel) Heggemeier of Higbee, MO and Paul (Sarah) Heggemeier of Nashville.  2 daughters; Debbie (Roy) Kiefer of Boise, ID and Barb Hamblen of Des Moines, IA  4 grandchildren; Becky (AJ) Gris and their sons; Henry and Ian, Sarah Kiefer and her daughter; Skyler and Frances (Todd) King all of Boise, ID.  Emily Hamblen(special friend Gabe Flogstad) of Coal City, IA. Step granddaughter; Claudia (Brian) Sharp and their daughter; Elena.  Several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, a son; Michael in infancy, brother; Dick (Vivian) Simms, 5 sister in laws and 3 brother in laws.

Sue was a graduate of Albion High School and attended the University of Illinois.  She was a mother, housewife and secretary for Heggemeier Hunt Club.  She was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville where she was active in the Dorcas Circle.  She was also a member of this Harris Hill Home Extension.  She enjoyed reading, collecting cooking recipes, playing pinochle and keeping up with the St. Louis Cardinals.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 31st at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville with Rev.Bev Kahle officiating.  A private burial will follow at the St. Paul UCC cemetery.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and again from 7:30 to 9:00 a.m. on Friday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation.
