Shirley Brehm Obituary

Shirley L. Brehm, 89 formerly of Ashley, passed away at 12:23 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Fireside House in Centralia.  She was born on March 29, 1936 in Nashville, the daughter of Cooper and Viola Aldridge Smith.  She married Kenneth D. Brehm on June 27, 1953 in Nashville and he passed away on December 23, 2019 in Carbondale.  Also preceding her in death were her parents, 3 sons; Michael, Karl and Larry in infancy.  2 brothers; Floyd and Doyle Lawhorn and a sister Frances Smith.

Left to mourn her passing is a son Kenneth R. (Annette) Brehm of Kell.  3 daughters; Barbara (Richard) Ayers of Sandoval, Sue Ann (Mike) Nicholson of Nashville and Linda (Glenn) Morgan of Nason.  14 grandchildren, 47 great grandchildren and 8 great great grandchildren with another one on the way.

Shirley was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville, the Nashville American Legion Ladies Auxiliary and Nashville Moose Lodge.  She loved camping, fishing and gardening.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 2, 2025 at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Beverly Kahle officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Paul UCC Cemetery in Nashville.  Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Saturday at the funeral home.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Moose Lodge or a charity of the donor’s choice.
