Ruth Mercer 78 of Pinckneyville, passed away at 8:10 a.m. on Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at St. Louis University Hospital.  She was born on February 10, 1935 in Delta, Missouri the daughter of Hester M. Crader.  She married Allen Mercer on March 21, 1957 in Cairo and he passed away on August 27, 2007.  Also preceding her in death were her parents.  Left to mourn her passing is a son; Michael Gene (Terri) Hanks of Greensburg, IN., a daughter; Tammy (Thomas) Kellerman of Pinckneyville, 4 grandchildren; Kristen, Ashli, Michael II and Hollie.  A great grandson; Simon and a brother Ernest Richard Duncan of Jackson, MO.

Mrs. Mercer was a talented seamstress and dressmaker.  She enjoyed reading and spending time with her grandchildren.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. on Saturday, May 4, 2013 at Concord Cemetery in Rice.  A private family visitation will be held at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville which is in charge of arrangements.  Memorial contributions may be made to St. Ann Catholic school in Nashville.
