Rosalie L. Meinert 92 of New Minden, passed away at 7:15 a.m. on Wednesday, April 30, 2014 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. She was born on January 12, 1922 in Marion County, Illinois the daughter of Martin and Christina Kuhlman Gutzler. She married Harvey A. Meinert on July 16, 1955 in New Minden and he passed away on November 20, 2002. Also preceding her in death were her parents, a son; Gary Fortmeyer, a daughter; Linda Henry, 2 brothers; Alvie and Ottomar “Budsie” Gutzler and 2 sisters; Wilma Borchelt and Glenna Brand.
Left to mourn her passing is a son; Mark (Sara) Meinert of New Minden. 2 daughters; Mary Brown of Ashley and Betty (Al) Hongsermeier of Collinsville. A sister; Jeanette Creamer of St. Louis, 11 grandchildren and several great and great great grandchildren. Rosalie was a farm wife and and a self employed hairdresser. She was a long time member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden and the Washington County Farm Bureau. She enjoyed playing cards, going shopping, gardening and being outdoors.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 2nd at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Minden. Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Washington County Hospital Extended Care, St. John’s Lutheran Church or a charity of the donor’s choice.
