Robert Chris Heggemeier, 93 of Nashville passed away at 8:22 a.m. on Tuesday, September 24, 2024 at his residence. He was born on September 13, 1931 in Nashville, the son of Phillip and Emma Gilbert Heggemeier. He married Suzanne “Sue” Simms on June 16, 1954 in Albion and she passed away on August 25, 2018. Also preceding him in death were his parents, a son Michael in infancy and 3 brothers; Gilbert (Lucy), Wilbert (Alice) and Phil Heggemeier. 3 sisters; Margaret Heggemeier, Mildred Stevenson and Betty (Arnold) Benson and 2 nephews; Roger and Michael Stevenson. A niece Nancy Van Pelt. Brother in law; Dick (Vivian) Simms.
Left to mourn his passing are 2 sons; David (Isabel) Heggemeier of Higbee, MO and Paul (Sarah) Heggemeier of Nashville. 2 daughters; Debbie (Roy) Kiefer of Boise, ID and Barb Hamblen of Des Moines, IA. 4 granddaughters, 3 great grandchildren, one step granddaughter and 2 step great grandchildren. Special friends Glen and Kelly Claytor and their children.
Bob received his Bachelors Degree in Agriculture from the University of Illinois. He retired from the Illinois State Department of Education. Bob and his son Paul worked the family farm and owned and operated Heggemeier Hunt Club for many years. He was a member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville, Washington County Farm Bureau, Washington County Sportsman’s Club, Lifetime member and General Superintendent Washington County Fair Association where he was a livestock judge for 50 years and a long time 4H leader. Bob loved to hunt, fish and show sheep at fairs.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, September 30, 2024 at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville with Rev. Bev Kahle officiating. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5-8 on Sunday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County 4 H Club
