Raymond Kottmeyer 68 of New Minden, passed away at 10:20 a.m. on Monday, January 20, 2014 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville. He was born on December 1, 1945 on the family farm outside New Minden to Albert and Amanda Boehne Kottmeyer. He was preceded in death by his parents, 2 brothers; Amos and Mark Kottmeyer and a brother in law; Paul Thompson. Left to mourn his passing is a brother; David (Jeanna) Kottmeyer of Hoyleton. 2 sisters; Anne Thompson of Morada,CA. and Mary (Jim) McQuaid of New Minden. Nephews and nieces; Chad (Jessie) Kottmeyer of Nashville, Jessica (Mark) Winka of Radom, Todd (Nina) Thompson of Morada, CA., Catherine McQuaid of New Minden, Elizabeth Mc Quaid and life partner Angela Croft of Eastern Passage, Novia Scotia Canada and Amanda McQuaid of Hoyleton along with several great nieces, great nephews,cousins and many great friends and his care providers at Friendship Manor Health Center.
Raymond attended school and was confirmed in the Lutheran faith at St. John’s Lutheran church in New Minden where he was a faithful life member. He loved working on the family farm and helping others farm when he could. He was a St. Louis Cardinal fan and worked at several area vocational workshops.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 24th at the Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton and one hour prior to services at the church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial contributions may be made to the Activities Fund at Friendship Manor or a charity of the donor’s choice.
