Monroe H. Kurtz, 95 of Pinckneyville formerly of Okawville, passed away at 2:09 p.m. on Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at his residence in Pinckneyville.  He was born on June 20, 1919 in Okawville, the son of Henry and Anna Templemeier Kurtz.  He married Leona Hassebrook in 1950 in Okawville and she passed away in 1984.  Also preceding him in death were his parents.  Left to mourn his passing is his “Buddy”; Ruth Curry of Pinckneyville and her children.

Mr. Kurtz was a farmer in the Okawville area most of his life and was a member of the Olive Branch Lutheran Church in Okawville.

Cremation services were selected.  A graveside inurnment service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, February 2, 2015 at Zion Evangelical Cemetery in Addieville.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested.  Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
