Michael W. Muenter, 73 of Hoyleton, passed away at 12:40 a.m. on Friday, March 13, 2026 at Mercy South DeGreef Hospice House in St. Louis, MO surrounded by his family. He was born on September 16, 1952 in St. Louis, MO, the son of Alden H. and Alma A. Rommelmann Muenter. He married Shirley Kingsley on August 20, 1987 in Hoyleton and she survives. Besides his wife of nearly 39 years, also surviving is a son Christopher Muenter and fiancée Kristin Smith of Springfield, a daughter Melissa (Matthew) Eschmann of Fenton, MO, a sister Christine (Don) Strom of Sarasota, FL, 2 grandchildren; William and Ella Eschmann. His mother in law Priscilla Kingsley of Centralia. Brother and sister in laws; Dale (Kathy) Kingsley of Centralia, Bill (Kim) Kinglsey of Centralia, Bert (Joy) Kingsley of Kell, Kate Muenter of Centralia and Becky (Gene) Budde of Damainsville. and several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Jim Muenter.
Mike was a 1970 graduate of Nashville Community High School. He pursued a degree in automotive repair, but dedicated his entire 52 year career to being a self employed heavy equipment truck driver. This job was not only his passion but also his area of expertise. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton, enjoyed playing golf, watching the St. Louis Blues, Cardinals and his grandchildren’s sporting events and most of all spending time with his family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 20, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. A private burial will follow in the church cemetery after cremation. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday and from 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church. Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
