Marvin was born on October 14, 1931 in Hoyleton, and died on November 29, 2024, at the age of 93. He is preceded in death by his parents, Adolph and Olinda Kasten, and by his son, Michael Edward Kasten, his wife of 59 years, Nancy Clayton Kasten, his wife of 3 years, Lorraine Michaels Kasten, his sister, Dorothy Skillman and her husband James Skillman, his brother, Eldor Kasten and his wife Mildred Kasten. He is survived by his daughter, Vicki Lovett and her husband Joe, his grandchildren Linda Barrera, her husband Sergio, and their daughter Olivia. He is also survived by his grandson, Joshua Lovett, his wife Nicole, and their sons Javen and Julien.
He served in the United States Air Force from 1949 - 1953 during the Korean War. He moved to Lockport, Illinois and worked for General Motors. After his retirement he spent summers in Illinois and winters in Mesa, Arizona. He enjoyed traveling around the world, dancing, his churches, and his family. He ended his life living in Texas close to family, especially his great grandchildren.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 6, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Cemetery in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Nashville American Legion Post #110. Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
