Lorene Haertling Obituary

Lorene Ruth Haertling, 87 of Nashville, passed away at 10:29 a.m. on Wednesday, May 8, 2024 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville with her family at her side.  She was born on September 13, 1936 in Altenburg, MO, the daughter of Rudolph and Clara Loebs Schilling.  She married Leonard E. Haertling on July 10, 1955 in Altenburg, MO and he survives.  Besides her husband of 68 years, left to mourn her passing are 2 sons; Steven (Amy) Haertling and David (Donna) Haertling both of Nashville.  3 daughters; Martha (Tom) Polczynski of Nashville, Julie (Bob) Burgess of Superior Township, MI and Michelle (Brian) Grathwohl of Richview.  2 brothers; Mel (Mary) Schilling of Altenburg, MO and Harold Schilling of Cape Girardeau, MO.  15 grandchildren; Allie (Scott) Gibbs, Lanie (Ian) Smith, Devin (Dana) Haertling, Carly (Zach) Olszewski, Braedon (Chelsea) Haertling, Keely (Mike) Bosau, Erin (Ryan) Cook, Ryan (Mae) Polczynski, Megan (Mike) Phelps, Nathan Burgess, Jess Burgess, Stephanie (Adam) Weiss, Curtis (Danielle) Grathwohl, Justin (Shawn) Grathwohl and Emma Grathwohl.  22 great grandchildren; Quinn, Harrison, Carter, Owen, Ezra, Tyler, Bennett, Rhodes, Porter, Lowen, Bella, Beau, Bobby, Tommy, Lily, Cami, Arthur, Charlotte, Colette, Gavin, Jake and Luke.  A sister- in- law Lois Kerstein.  She was preceded in death by 2 brothers; Ray and Leonard Schilling and 2 sisters; Myrtle Keuhnert and Lillian Fiehler.

Along with her husband, Lorene was the former owner/operator of Haertling Hardware in Nashville.  She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was active in the Ladies Aid, LWML, Fellowship Club, Bible study and choir.  She was a member of the Washington County Camp of the Gideons.  She enjoyed dancing and spending time with her family.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, May 11, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville with Rev. David Benning officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Friday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Camp of Gideons International or Trinity Lutheran Church. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements
