Lois Emrick Aussieker, age 97, of Hoyleton, Illinois, formerly of Richview, Illinois, passed away at 1:15 p.m. on Sunday, April 12, 2015 at Green Tree at Mt. Vernon in Mt. Vernon, Illinois.  Lois was born on April 3, 1918 in Jefferson County, Illinois, the daughter of Ralph and Emily Ackerson.  She married Lester “Butch” Emrick on April 5, 1937 in Irvington, Illinois and he preceded her in death on February 14, 1984.  She then married E.W. Aussieker on May 20, 1991 in Hoyleton, Illinois and he preceded her in death on July 25, 2003.

Left to mourn her passing are her daughters, Linda Schaeffer and husband Charles of Nashville, Illinois; Shirley Selby and husband John of Richview, Illinois and Janice St. Louis of Ashley, Illinois; 11 grandchildren; 21 great grandchildren; 3 great-great grandchildren, daughter-in-law, Diana Emrick of Richview, Illinois and her step-children Marilyn Wesselmann, Judy Reichenbacher, Gary Aussieker, Diane Howell and their children.

In addition to her parents and husbands, Mrs. Aussieker was preceded in death by her daughter, Karen Cramblett, son, Leslie Emrick and sons-in-law, James Cramblett and John St. Louis.

Lois was a member of Maple Grove Methodist Church, which stood near the intersection of Chestnut and Elm Road in rural Richview, Illinois.  Maple Grove consolidated into Hoyleton Bethel United Methodist Church where she was a member for several years.  When it closed, she became a member of Richview United Methodist Church.  She attended White School, a rural one-room elementary school.  She graduated from Ashley High School.  She enjoyed gardening, raising flowers and baking.  At one time she dubbed herself “The Pie Lady of Hoyleton.”  A favorite winter pastime was old fashioned hand quilting and she made countless quilts and wall hangings which she shared with many friends and family.  Her very favorite hobby was fishing in local farm ponds, which she continued to enjoy well into her nineties.  Lois was very sweet natured, always energetic and busy, and was so much fun to be with.  She enjoyed playing parlor games like cards and dominoes.  She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Lois retired in 1980 from S.S. Kresge store in Centralia, Illinois after 25 years of service.   After her retirement, she worked from time to time as a caregiver for the elderly in their homes.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 17, 2015 at the Richview United Methodist Church with Pastor Dennis Gambill officiating.  Friends may call from 9:00 A.M. until the time of services at 11:00 A.M. at the church.  Interment will follow at the Richview Cemetery in Richview, Illinois.  Memorial Contributions may be in Mrs. Aussieker's memory to the Richview United Methodist Church or Richview Cemetery Association and will be received at the church.  Styninger Funeral Homes in Nashville, Illinois is in charge of arrangements.
