Kathy M. Bowen, 64 of Irvington, passed away at 11:43 a.m. on Sunday, June 23, 2024 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon with her family at her side. She was born on December 4, 1959 in Centralia, the daughter of Robert and Eunice Unverfehrt Brink. She married Denny Bowen and they later divorced. Left to mourn her passing are her parents of Richview, children; Jake (Carrie Roemer) Bowen of Cottage Hills, Lee Bowen of Centralia and Lindsey (TJ) Wimberly of Richview. 3 brothers; Steve (LouAnne) Brink of Centralia, Kurt Brink of Richview and Randy (Pamela) Brink of Peoria. A sister Carol Brink of Bradenton, FL. 7 grandchildren; Madelyn Phillips, Jaelynn and Kaison Wimberly, Aria and Holden Bowen and Izzabelle and Theodore Roemer. She was engaged to Steve Slocum of East Moline at one time and they remained extremely close. She was preceded in death by her ex husband Denny Bowen.
Kathy retired in 2013 as a LAN Administrator with the Illinois Department of Corrections having worked in Centralia and East Moline. She was a member of the ASCME Local #46 and Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton. She was an avid concert goer, loved vacationing with friends, gardening and mostly spending time with her family.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 1, 2024 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Memorial contributions are suggested. Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
