Jerry L Smith

Jerry L. Smith, 59 of Vandalia formerly of New Minden, passed away at 2:13 p.m. on Monday, January 17, 2022 at his residence.  He was born on February 25, 1962 in Centralia, the son of Jerry and Julia Stutsman Smith.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother Stephen Smith.  Left to mourn his passing are a brother Rick Smith of Vandalia, and a sister Anna Smith of Mt. Vernon.  4 half brothers; Ervin Funke, Jr. of Naples, and Jim, Chuck and Bill Funke all of New Minden.  3 half sisters; Heather Smith of New Baden, Pam Funke of Mt. Vernon and Gail Funke of Naples, FL.

Jerry was a graduate of Nashville Community High School and a member of the St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden.  He umpired in the New Minden Softball League for many years.

A private family service will be held at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
