Harold E Vitrey

Harold E. Vitrey, Jr. 97 of St. Libory, passed away at 4:10 a.m. on Tuesday, June 20, 2023 at Freeburg Care Center in Freeburg.  He was born on February 23, 1926 in Chicago, the son of Harold E. and Angela Tiefenbraun Vitrey.  He married Thelma Johnston on May 10, 1952 at Shaw United Methodist Church in St. Louis and she passed away on April 18, 2011.  Also preceding him in death were his parents, a sister Lorraine Brouillette and a son-in-law Kenneth Terveer. 

 Left to mourn his passing is a son Bruce T. (Susie) Vitrey of Clayton, MO, 2 daughters; Beverly Terveer of Marissa and Barbara (Scott) Larson of Hazelwood, MO.  6 grandchildren; Tanya (Jeremy) Stanley, John (Whitney) Junger III, Abby Junger, Lauren (Ryan) Lindewirth, Nick and Megan Larson.  6 great grandchildren; Kaitlyn Stanley, Morgan Stanley, Jack, Esther, Roman and Luna Junger. 

Mr. Vitrey served in the Army Air Corp in World War II.  He retired as a printing pressman.  He was a member of the Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville and the St. Libory American Legion Post #683. 

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at the Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. Cody Battefeld officiating.  Burial with military rites will follow at New Bethlehem Cemetery 9650 Bellfontaine Road St. Louis, MO.  Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern Illinois or Grace United Methodist Church. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements
