Harlin J. Heggemeier, 83 of Nashville, passed away at 7:20 p.m. on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at Axiom Gardens in Nashville with his wife and daughter at his side. He was born on April 14, 1942 in Plum Hill, the son of Theodore and Elma Hackstadt Heggemeier. He married Kathryn Ann Frederking on May 5, 1963. Besides his wife of nearly 63 years, also surviving is his daughter Brenda (Travis) Tolliver of Nashville. 6 grandchildren; Brian (Kacie) Heggemeier, Jr., Brandice (Bryan) Rennegarbe, Ethan (Stephanie) Tolliver, Jackson, Megan and Grace Tolliver. 8 great grandchildren; Carter, Caethan, Briannah, Harlynn, Liam, Jamison, Jeroe and Jai. 6 sisters; Darleen Sandheinrich of Millstadt, Fern Klasing, Opal Koch, Judy (Don) Ostendorg of Preston, AZ and June Ostendorf all of Okawville and Norma Mazander of Mascoutah, several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Brian and a grandson Beau Heggemeier.
Harlin received his degree from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale in Auto Mechanics in 1962. He was a lifelong farmer and a mechanic at Holzhauer Auto in Nashville for 37 years until he opened his own business Heggemeier Farm Repair. Harlin continued to farm until 2023 at which time he retired. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing, camping, but most of all mule riding with his family and friends. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville where he served on several boards and organizations and was a Trustee for Nashville Township for 25 years.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville with Rev. David Benning officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:30 to 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church cemetery fund.
