Gladys Lorraine Wessel, 90 of Nashville, passed away at 10:15 p.m. on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville. She was born on May 14, 1934 in Elkton, the daughter of Oliver and Edna Huff Fox. She married Lester Wessel on June 30, 1988 in Nashville and he passed away in 2006. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 4 brothers; Gerald in infancy, Herman, Harold (Doris) and Howard Fox. 3 sisters; Virginia (Robert) Garrett, Elizabeth “Betty” (Robert) Brown and Joan (Robert) Kershaw. Left to mourn her passing are 2 sisters; Melba (Bob) Rust of Coulterville and Gerry (Roy) Jentzsch of Augusta, MO. A brother Carl (Jan) Fox of Coulterville along with several nieces and nephews.
Gladys worked at the Washington County Vocational Workshop for many years where she loved the people and her work. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Nashville where Pastor Scott Sharp and her church family looked after her and was very good to her. The last 20 years Gladys resided at Friendship Manor where the workers there treated her like family even visiting her frequently while she was a patient at St. Clara Hospital in Fenton, MO and treated her as if she was still in their care while she was there. She received excellent care at Friendship Manor according to her family.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 13, 2024 at the First Baptist Church in Nashville with Rev. Scott Sharp officiating. Burial will follow in the Zion Evangelical Cemetery in Addieville. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to her church or Friendship Manor Health Center. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
