George Williams Obituary

George E. Williams, age 79, of Addieville, Illinois, passed away peacefully at Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon, Illinois, surrounded by his loving family on Monday, December 15, 2025.

George was born on October 4, 1946, in Superior, Wisconsin, the son of George K. and Alice (Rivord) Williams. He was united in marriage to Lorie J. Zeilinger on March 29, 1980, in Janesville, Wisconsin.

Left to cherish his memory are his stepchildren, whom he loved and supported at his own Kimberly (Mark) Rennegarbe of Addieville, Illinois, and William Livingston of Ruskin, Florida. George embraced that role fully and lovingly, becoming a constant source of guidance, support, and care throughout their lives. Three grandchildren, Addysen, Jackson, and Alexa Rennegarbe. He is also survived by his siblings: Daniel Williams, Jeff Williams, Ruthie Olson, Thomas Williams, Georgann “Susie” Dzelak, Kathy (Dan) Dawson, Robert (Denise) Williams, and Tim (Sandy) Williams.

George was preceded in death by his wife, Lorie; his parents, George and Alice Williams; his sister, Mary Alice Wise; his sister and brother-in-law, Bonita “Bonnie” and Larry Gray; his brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Bea Williams; sister-in-law, Sandie Williams; sister-in-law, Lyla Williams; and his brother-in-law, George Dzelak.

George proudly served his country after being drafted into the United States Army and completing a tour in Vietnam as a combat medic. He was a hardworking man from an early age, beginning with a paper route at just nine years old. As a young adult, he rode a motorcycle in the Thunder Dome carnival act. He later worked as a machinist for Beloit Power Systems where he met Lorie, the love of his life. They later moved to Lexington, TN where George became a department supervisor for Magnetek Corporation. After a brief retirement, George returned to work as an over-the-road truck driver.

In his free time, George loved cheering for the Green Bay Packers, was an avid NASCAR fan, and enjoyed golfing. He also loved camping, bowling, and participating in family activities. More than anything else, George treasured time spent with family, especially his grandchildren.

A celebration of George’s life will be held Friday July 3, 2026 in Superior, WI. The venue will be announced at a later date. Interment of George’s ashes, along with the ashes of his beloved wife Lorie, will be held at Greenwood Cemetery Nashville, IL at a time following his celebration of life gathering.
