Gary “Mule” Miller, age 64, of Nashville, Illinois passed away at 8:22 P.M. on Thursday, January 16, 2014 at Memorial Hospital in Belleville, Illinois. He was born on October 7, 1949 in Centralia, Illinois, the son of Harold “Bud” and Clarine (Hiltibidal) Miller. He married Janet “Jan” Newman on April 29, 2000 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lebanon, Illinois and she survives in Nashville, Illinois.

In addition to his wife of 13 years, Mr. Miller is survived by 1 son Chapen Miller and wife Dawn of Collinsville, Illinois, 1 stepson Dustin Simaytis and wife Tallie of Collinsville, Illinois, 1 stepdaughter Anna Birkner and husband Eric of Nashville, Illinois, mother Clarine Miller of Centralia, Illinois, 4 grandchildren Chandler Miller, Avery Simaytis, Taylor Birkner and Gavin Birkner, 1 sister Glenda Lamb of Centralia, Illinois and nieces and nephews.

Mr. Miller was preceded in death by his father Harold “Bud” Miller, and nephew Tommy Hicks,

Mr. Miller was baptized at the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Lebanon, Illinois. He was a member of Centralia Moose Lodge # 1219. He enjoyed riding his Gold Wing motorcycle and taking the yearly “boys” trips. He was a member of the ABATE of Illinois Kaskaskia Valley Chapter.

Mr. Miller was an E.R. Technician at Good Samaritan Regional Health Center in Mt. Vernon, Illinois for 2 years. He was previously employed with the Pinckneyville Ambulance Service and was a paramedic and administrator from 1973 until 2004 with the Washington County Ambulance Service retiring after 31 years of service.

Celebration of Life Service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, January 22, 2014 at Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home in Nashville, Illinois with Reverend Scott Osenbaugh officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 P.M. To 8:00 P.M. on Tuesday, January 21, 2014 at the Styninger-Krupp Funeral Home in Nashville, Illinois with an Emergency Medical Services walk through at 7:00 P.M.. Private family inurnment services will be at a later date in Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville, Illinois.
