Gary Roger Hake, 63 of Nashville, passed away suddenly at 7:27 a.m. on Friday, October 18, 2024 in the emergency room at SSM St. Mary’s Hospital in Centralia. He was born on October 8, 1961 in Pittsfield, the son of Roger C. and Sara M. Lovan Hake. He married Teresa Beadle on November 30, 1985 at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville. Left to mourn his passing is his wife Teresa Hake of Nashville, son Clifton (Amie) Hake of Richview, daughter Kourtney Hake of Nashville, 2 grandchildren; Rollie and Ella Hake, sister Lauri (George) Heckert of Venedy and his mother in law Shirley Tuttle of Nashville, nieces, nephews and other family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents and step father in law King Tuttle.
Gary received his Masters Degree in Sociology from Western Illinois University. He was the agency director for Southern Illinois Case Coordination Services in Centralia. He also taught sociology at Kaskaskia College and McKendree University. He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville where he served on numerous committees. He was a member and past president of the Nashville Lions Club and served on the Board of Directors of the Illinois Forestry Association. He loved hunting, trees, biking, running and swimming.
A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, October 23, 2024 at Grace United Methodist Church with Rev. Lori Van Horn officiating. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday at the church and one hour prior to services on Wednesday. A private burial will follow at North Prairie Cemetery in Hoyleton at a later date. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church or the Grace Church Food Pantry. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements
