Firmin “Gus” Eversgerd, 80 of Nashville, passed away at 4:09 p.m. on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville surrounded by his family. He was born on December 31, 1941 in New Baden, the son of Aloys and Gertrude Huelsman Eversgerd. He married Doris Jean Cook on November 28, 1964 in Centralia and she survives. Also left to mourn his passing are 3 wonderful daughters; Patricia (Jeff) Roberts of Pinckneyville, Elizabeth Glazier of Nashville and Mary (Richard) Zimmer of Chester. 9 grandchildren; Connie (Jared) Roberts of Ballwin, MO, Rusty (Kate) Roberts of Pinckneyville, Jessie (Philip) Farris of Bethany, WV, Rie (Tommy) Dickerson of Chester, James Glazier of Pinckneyville, First Class Petty Officer Gus (Cindy) Glazier of Bahrain, Mallory Zimmer of Edwardsville, Maddie Vuichard and Megan Zimmer both of Chester. 14 great grandchildren; Bryan, Angel, Matt, Bella and Lexie Forth, Coy, Maycie and Jaymie Dickerson, Katherine and Delilah Farris, Kaylie, Saylor and Abigail Glazier and Niall Roberts. 3 sisters; Marian Lippert of Carlyle, Patricia (Willard) Wessel of Centralia and Carol (Jim) Peters of Cotton Town, TN. A sister in law Barb Eversgerd of Centralia along with numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Nelda Hanks, 3 brothers; Al “Jr”, David and Gene Eversgerd and a step sister Leota Pommer.
Gus was of the Catholic faith and a lifetime member of the Knights of Columbus. He retired as a sheet metal fabricator at CF Fabricators in Hoffman. He was a veteran of the United States Air Force and member of the Nashville American Legion Post #110. Gus was an avid fisherman and gardener. He was a loyal fan of the St. Louis Cardinals and Kansas City Chiefs. His greatest joy was spending time with his family, BBQ’s , picnics, holidays and any reason to celebrate being together gave him great happiness.
Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 10, 2022 at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville. A prayer service will follow at 7:00 p.m. with Brother Rob Mathis officiating. Cremation will follow the service. Memorial contributions are suggested and may be made to the memory care wing at Friendship Manor Health Center.
