Dorothy Annette Toedte, 90 of Knoxville, TN. formerly of Nashville passed away at 2:29 p.m. on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Manor House Assisted Living in Knoxville.  She was born on January 1, 1923 in Beaucoup, IL the daughter of Henry F. and Anna Fehrmann Niederhofer.  She married Perley C. Toedte on November 22, 1946 at St. Paul United Church of Christ parsonage in Nashville and he passed away on June 20, 2011.  Also preceding her in death were her parents and a sister; Florence Jack of Beaucoup.

Left to mourn her passing is a son; Ross (Sharon) Toedte of Knoxville, TN along with 2 grandchildren; Blaire and Benjamin both of Knoxville, TN.

Mrs. Toedte was a graduate of Nashville Community High School and received her teaching certificate from Southern Illinois State Normal University at age 16 where she subsequently received her teaching certificate.  She taught school at several locations in Washington County, including at least 1 one room schoolhouse.  During the 1940's, she lived in St. Louis, studying nursing at City Hospital and working as office staff for Emerson Electric Company.  She along with her husband managed Toedte Maytag and Skelgas in Nashville.  She and Perley moved to Knoxville in 2006 to be closer to their family.  Dorothy was a long time member of the St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, September 7th at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Jean Carmean officiating.  Burial will follow in the St. Paul UCC Cemetery in Nashville.  Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Cure Alzheimers Fund at www.curealz.org
