Donald Dean Askew 82 of Nashville, formerly of Tamaroa, passed away at 4:01 p.m. on Sunday, August 2, 2015 at St. Louis University Hospital.  He was born on September 13, 1932 in Granite City, the son of Hall and Ruby Cozair Askew.  Left to mourn his passing are his wife; Lola Knapp Askew of Du Quoin. 4 sons; Eddie Askew of Ina, Mike Askew of Centralia, Timmy Biddles of Grayville and Tommy Biddles of Tamaroa.  6 daughters; Donna Louks of Glen Carbon, Sandra Wiedewelt of California, Leslie Rosenberger of Fairfield, Barb Nowakowski of Arizona, Katie Virtue of Arizona and Tina Askew of Indiana.  2 brothers; Richard Askew of Caseyville and Randall Askew of Oakdale.  2 sisters; Sharon Dickinson of Missouri and Ellen Martin of Mt. Olive.  Also surviving are numerous grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a son; Dale and a brother; David Askew.

Mr. Askew was a self employed carpenter and loved the Lord.  He enjoyed doing jigsaw puzzles, watching old western movies and wrestling along with making people laugh.

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Friday, August 7, 2015 at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville with Rev. Alan Newman officiating.  Burial will follow in Old Orchard cemetery in Mt. Vernon.  There will be no visitation.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions are suggested.
