Charles R. “Pop” Guest, 93 of Nashville, passed away at 3:50 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2021 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville. He was born on November 14, 1928 in Evansville, IN, the son of Francis and Frieda Seiffertt Guest. He married Violet Emma Blumhorst on November 23, 1952 in Addieville and she passed away on March 21, 2012. Also preceding him in death were his parents and 2 great grandsons; Andrew Guest and Beau Luechtefeld. Left to mourn his passing are 2 sons; Gary (Denise) Guest and Glenn (Deb) Guest both of Nashville. 2 daughters; Karen (Jim) Stein of Nashville and Kathy (Tom) Luechtefeld of St. Libory. 13 Grandchildren; Jason Guest and special friend Leigh Ann White, Melissa (Donnie) Kurwicki, Heather (Jim) Newcomb, Jeffrey (Alyssa) Guest, Kristian (Peter) Hulme, Jeremy (Jill) Stein, Jonas (Jill) Stein, Krystal (Nathan) Emrick, James (Lisa) Teter, Tom (Angie) Luechtefeld, Jodie Luechtefeld, Greg (Kourtney) Guest and Garrett (Elizabeth) Guest. 29 great grandchildren; Gabriella (Andrew) Morgan and Colton Hulme, Brady, Gracie and Karlie Stein, Dustin and Dillon Teter, Emily and Benjamin Guest, Christopher, Kyle, Katie and Chloe Kurwicki, Briar, Ellie Violet and Case Newcomb, Brooke, Harley and Caitlynn Luechtefeld, Gavin, Greyson and Griffin Guest Lyla Guest, Bella, Mattie and Kai Emrick, Beckett and Owen Stein and another on the way from Garrett and Elizabeth. A great great granddaughter Hazel Brown.
Charlie was an Army veteran of the Korean War. He was a lifelong farmer near Addieville, a member of the Nashville Christian Church, Washington County Farm Bureau, founding member of the Addieville Community Club, former President of the Addieville School Board, former member of Zion United Church of Christ in Addieville where he held numerous offices and positions, he coached many of his children’s athletic teams and was a member of the WNSV broadcast team for Hornet and Hornette sports. He played softball until he was 62 and was know as an accomplished pitcher. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved quail hunting with Red Schoendist and Ben Gaebe. “Pop” enjoyed drinking coffee with his morning friends at Beatty’s for many years and never missed one of his children or grandchildren’s sporting events.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, December 6, 2021 at the Nashville Christian Church with Rev. Les Boldt officiating. Burial will follow in the St. John’s UCC Cemetery in Plum Hill with military rites by the Nashville American Legion Post #110. Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville and one hour prior to services on Monday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Nashville Christian Church Building Fund.
