Cecelia Ann Russell, 65 of Avon, CT, formerly of Belleville, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Wednesday, July 4, 2018 at the University of Connecticut Hospital in Farmington, CT. She was born on November 7, 1952 in St. Louis, the daughter of Robert and Irene Boehning Russell. She was preceded in death by her parents. Left to mourn her passing is her brother; Robert Russell of Simsbury, CT. A nephew; Michael (Carolyn) Russell of Hartford, CT. 2 uncles; Edward Boehning of Nashville and Richard (Agnes) Boehning of Centralia. 4 maternal cousins; Jon (Stephanie) Boehning, Edith (Keith) Grote, Victoria (Don) Caves and Christine (Jeff Spiller) Ewald.
Miss Russell received her Associates Degree in Laboratory Technology from Belleville Area College. She was a phlebotomist at Belleville Memorial Hospital for 40 years prior to her retirement and a member of the College of American Pathologists. She was a longtime member of Signal Hill Lutheran Church in Belleville where she was confirmed. She enjoyed reading, watching movies, cooking, spending time with friends. She loved dogs and was a faithful St. Louis Cardinals fan.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 14, 2018 at St. John’s Lutheran Cemetery in New Minden with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating. Memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
