Carol Jack Obituary

Carol Marie Jack, age 74, passed away at 10:10 p.m. on Saturday, October 8, 2022, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton, Missouri, with her loving family by her side.  Carol was born on December 29, 1947, in Nashville, Illinois, to John K. and Gladys (Heinrichsmeyer) Boester. She was baptized and confirmed at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville, Illinois.  Carol married William (Bill) Jack on February 24, 1968, at this same church.

In addition to her husband of 54 years, she is survived by three children; a daughter, Anne (Warren) Swanson of Glenwood Springs, Colorado; a daughter, Carrie (Garey Hoffman) Jack of Edwardsville, Illinois; and a son, Daniel (Amanda) Jack of Green Ridge, Missouri. She is also survived by a brother, Bob (Beth) Boester of Nashville, Illinois; a sister-in-law, Samary Jack of Ballwin, Missouri, six grandchildren, Reid, Benjamin and Calvin Swanson of Glenwood Springs, Colorado, Elliott and Dexter Hoffman of Edwardsville, Illinois, and Britten Mergen of Green Ridge, Missouri, as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Carol was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, John E. Boester, and sister-in-law, Donna Boester.

Carol and Bill became sweethearts during their years at Nashville High School. After graduating high school, Carol joined Bill as a student at the University of Illinois in Champaign-Urbana. They were married during the winter of her junior year. She graduated with a BA in Elementary Education. Carol supported Bill as he began a career in engineering that required them to move frequently, taking them on storied adventures in Kentucky, Wisconsin, Michigan, Tennessee, and Illinois. She and Bill eventually settled back in Nashville where they would raise their family. Carol devoted herself to many jobs over the years, but none with more care than raising her family. Her natural connection with children was beyond words. She also spent several years owning and operating a retail business in downtown Nashville and ended her professional career teaching for 10 years at Nashville Elementary and Nashville Middle Schools.

Carol loved to travel. But what she liked just as much was planning that travel, in particular those special family beach vacations. She always made sure everyone would have a grand time even down to the youngest grandson. She was an avid reader, always loving a good mystery. She also thoroughly enjoyed her time with Bill following the Cardinals and watching the birds.

It was Carol’s wishes to be cremated and a private family inurnment is planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in Carol’s memory to the Nashville Public Library and will be accepted through the Styninger Funeral Home at 224 South Washington Street in Nashville, Illinois, which is in charge of arrangements.
