Burnell A. Bleisch, 89 of Okawville, passed away in his sleep at 8:17 a.m. in his home on Thursday, May 22, 2025. He was born on October 10, 1935 in Grantfork the son of Elmer and Emma Semm Bleisch. He married Helen June McCune on December 4, 1960 in New Memphis and she passed away on October 4, 2023. Also preceding him in death were his parents and a brother Leonard Bleisch.
Left to mourn his passing is his son Derek (Tammy) Bleisch of Okawville and daughter Shelley (Mark) Mueller of Farmington, MO. 7 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and his sister Marilyn Launders of Florida.
Burnell retired in 1995 from Wilbert Burial Vault Company in New Baden and later worked for the Washington County Animal Control where he had the title of “DC 2”. He proudly served in the United States Army and was a member of the Coulterville VFW and Okawville American Legion Post #233. He was a member of the Washington County Sportsman’s Club, loved to be in the outdoors, fishing, coin collecting and was always on the go.
Graveside services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Wednesday, May 28, 2025 at Concord Cemetery in Rice with Lance Carr officiating. Military rites will be accorded. Friends may call from 9:00 to 10:20 a.m. on Wednesday at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville. There will be a Military Service at 10:20 a.m. conducted by the Okawville VFW Post. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Southern of Southern Illinois
