Barbara Jean Aussieker, 96 of Irvington, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Tuesday, July 13, 2021 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. She was born on April 24, 1925 in Richview the daughter of Charles and Grace Rogers Tucker. She married Vernon Aussieker on July 26, 1941 in Hoyleton and he passed away on January 3, 2013. Also preceding her in death were her daughter Carolyn Downes, a brother Dalton Tucker and 3 sisters; Geraldine White, Evelyn Heflin and Virginia Anderson. Left to mourn her passing is her son David (Marty) Aussieker of Ashley, a daughter Sharon (Jeff) Feltman of Pomona, 10 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
Barbara was a graduate of Ashley High School and a farm wife. She was a long time member of the Zion United Church of Christ in Hoyleton where she taught Sunday School, was active in the Women’s Guild and served as the sponsor for Junior Fellowship Club. She was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau where she was active in the Prime Timers and Home Extension. She enjoyed gardening and traveling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, July 20, 2021 at Zion United Church of Christ in Hoyleton with Rev. Sharon Patton officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. Tuesday on at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Zion UCC or Washington County Vocational Workshop.
