Arnold Althoff Obituary

Arnold F. Althoff, 88 of Plum Hill, passed away at 8:35 p.m. on Wednesday, May 19, 2021 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville.  He was born on December 24, 1932 in Plum Hill, the son of Emil and Lillian Schwengels Althoff.  He married Deloris Klasing on July 10, 1955 at St. Peter UCC in Okawville and she survives.  Besides his wife of 65 years, left to mourn his passing is a son Doug (Krystal) Althoff of Nashville.  2 daughters; Vicky (Gary) Berkemeier of Nashville and Leann (Paul) Schoenherr of St. Libory. 7 grandchildren; Mitch (Tracy) Berkemeier, Stacy (Nick) Kolweier, Daniel, Steven and Mike Schoenherr, Haylee (Houston) Bowers and Molly (special friend Ethan) Althoff.  6 great grandchildren; Aubrey, McKenna and Austin Berkemeier and Nixon, Emmalyn and Franklin Kolweier.  A brother Leonard Althoff of Addieville.  Brother and sister in laws; Lloyd (Mary Lou) Klasing, Dennis (Alice) Klasing and Elaine Yehling all of Okawville and Maryann Kleiboeker of Centralia, nieces, nephew, cousins and a host of friends.  He was preceded in death by his parents, In laws; Leslie and Mildred Klasing, a sister Valeria Rueter.  3 brother in laws; Robert Rueter, Ray Yehling, Howard Kleiboeker and a niece Kim Langhrer.

Arnold was a graduate of Okawville High School and retired from the USDA Soil and Water Conservation after 30years as well as farmed.  He was a member of the St. John United Church of Christ in Plum Hill where he served on the council and was a member of the Brotherhood.  He was a member of the Washington County Farm Bureau and Addieville Community Club.  He enjoyed playing cards and drinking coffee with the guys and spending time with family.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at St. John’s United Church of Christ in Plum Hill with Rev. Don Jones officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Monday and again from 7:30 to 8:30 a.m. on Tuesday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the St. John UCC Window Fund or Friendship Manor Health Care 500 Hall.
