Alvin Walter Sachtleben, 99 of Hoyleton, passed away at 7:07 p.m. on Thursday, February 27, 2025 at Aspen Creek Assisted Living in Sullivan. He was born on May 29, 1925 in Hoyleton, the son of Walter and Pauline Maschhoff Sachtleben. He married Roberta Harting on September 20, 1947 in Centralia and she passed away on June 15, 1994. Also preceding him in death was a brother Richard.
Left to mourn his passing is a son Kurt (Patti) Sachtleben of Troy. 2 daughters; Mary (Terry) Gaither of Bethany and Myra Sachtleben of Hoyleton. 5 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.
Alvin served in the Army Air Corp in World War II. He retired from National Mine Service in Nashville after 38 years where he was an inventory control manager. After retirement, he worked as a janitor at Kaskaskia College. He was a lifetime member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton where he was an Elder and served as Financial Secretary. He was a 75 year member of the Nashville American Legion Post #110 and former treasurer for the Village of Hoyleton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, 2025 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wolllenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery with military rites accorded by the Legion Post #110. Friends may call from 11:00 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. on Saturday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to American Heart Association or Cancer Society. Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
