William Manier Obituary

William Z. Manier, 58 of Oakdale, passed away at 9:10 a.m. on Sunday, September 30, 2018 from respiratory failure due to complications from sepsis.  He was born on July 12, 1960 in Harrisburg, the son of Carl and Eva Manier.  Zane felt he received no greater blessing than meeting and marrying his wife Dawn J. Pyle on October 10, 1999 in Gatlinburg, TN.  They spent 19 happy years together before his passing.  Also preceding him in death were his parents, a brother; Carl Manier, Jr.  2 sisters; Charlotte Ruby and Scarlett Dunn.  He is survived by numerous nieces and nephews and good friends including his his lifelong friend; Eddie Fitzgerald. His hunting buddy; Tom Haggerty and friend regardless of distance; James Neisz.  Great neighbors; the Gill’s and Wanda Carrick, the gang from the Good Samaritan House and his crew mates from the frigate USS Fanning which he served on while in the United States Navy.

Zane graduated from Carrier Mills High School, John A Logan College and Southern Illinois University at Carbondale where he earned an Associates of Science Degree, Bachelor of Science Degree in Journalism and a Master’s Degree in Administration of Justice.  Mr. Manier was employed in law enforcement for much of his working life, including Williamson County Sheriff’s Department, Jackson County Probation and Illinois Department of Corrections.  He was an avid sportsman and if it had fur, fin or feather, he chased it.  He was blessed to have spent many happy days in a duck blind with his buddies and Labrador retriever.  He was a member of Ducks Unlimited and served on the Washington County Hospital Board of Directors.

Cremation was performed and a private service will be held at a later date. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements
