Lester Harry Jones, 91 of Nashville, passed away suddenly at 8:16 p.m. on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. He was born on January 30, 1928 in Nashville, the son of Harry E. And Viola A. Toedte Jones. He married Dorothy Imogene Jernigan on July 26, 1953 in Nashville. Besides his wife of 66 years, he is survived by 2 sons; Russ (Cathy) Jones of Centralia and Rodney (Brenda) Jones of North Richland Hills, TX. A sister Bernice Holtgrewe of Raytown, MO. 4 grandchildren; Lucas (Mandy) Jones, Andrea (Heath) Kinder, Daniel (Bethany) Jones and Jessica (Steven) White. 8 great grandchildren; Chase, Charli, Remi, Chesni, Jaxi Jones, Zeke and Ava Kinder and Tate Jones. A step sister Reba Bankson of Indiana, a nephew Roland (Marion) Jones of Nashville, a niece Janet (Jim) Jeffers of Centralia and several other nieces and nephews.
Lester was an Army veteran where he served as a tank gunner in Korea. He retired after 44 years of working at the Nashville Kroger store. He was a founding member of the Nashville Assembly of God church which he helped build. Lester loved to garden and could be found going around town on his scooter giving away the produce he grew. He and Imogene loved to travel in their motor home as well as watching western movies. He had a great sense of humor and most of all, he was a man of God.
Lester gifted his body to the St. Louis University School of Medicine. A memorial service will be held at a later date. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements
