James "Al" Brandt Obituary

James Alan "AI" Brandt passed from this life to be with God on February 6, 2018
at Decatur Memorial Hospital. Alan was born September 26th, 1932 in
St. Genevieve, MO to Truman and Luella Brandt. The family relocated
and AI was raised in Nashville, IL. He was a member of the Nashville
1948-49 Hornets basketball team who placed fourth in the state. He
graduated from DePauw University, Greencastle, IN with degrees in
English and Business. He was a member of the Lambda Chi Alpha
fraternity, a Rector Scholar and played intramural basketball.

Alan proudly served in the Army at Fort Bliss in EI Paso, TX after
marrying his college sweetheart Carol (Rodebaugh). Upon leaving the
army, he joined his father-in-law in the family business at Angola
Bottling Works in Angola, IN. He later accepted a position in Sales and
Accounting at Mueller Company in Decatur, IL, where he remained until
his retirement. Not one to be idle, he then worked a couple of years
for Macon County.

He was preceded in death by his parents, two brothers-in-law and a
great nephew. Alan is survived by his wife of more than 63 years,
Carol; daughter Cheryl Peck; sister Marilyn Winterberger; brother
Truman (Nancy), nieces Dr. Rene' Feldkamp (Steven), Michelle
Winterberger, Janeen (Rick) Patton, Susan (Gary) Meyer, Pam (Greg)
Beck, John (Sheila) Brandt and numerous other great nieces, nephews
and cousins.

A memorial service will be held in April at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. William Bunnage officiating.  Interment will follow in North Prairie Cemetery.  Memorial contributions may be made to Grace United Methodist Church.

Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
