William H. Windler, 75 of Irvington, passed away at 3:10 a.m. on Monday, May 16, 2016 at SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital in Mt. Vernon.  He was born on December 29, 1940 in New Minden, the son of William F. And Emilie Hanke Windler.  He married Janet M. Lampe on January 10, 1960 in Irvington and she passed away on December 18, 2010.  Also preceding him in death was his parents.  Left to mourn his passing are 3 daugters; Karen (Michael) Berry and Christine (Scott) Bevil both of Richview and Beth (Sean) Ballantini of Irvington.  6 grandchildren; Sean Alan (Grace) Bushong, Casey Berry, Shaun Michael (Jessica) Berry, Cody Bevil and Brooke and William Ballantini.  6 great grandchildren.  A brother; Dennis (Trudy) Windler of New Minden, a sister; Marilyn (Glen) Edwards of Shattuc and a brother in law; Patrick (Anita) Lampe of Centralia.

“Bill” was the owner of Windler Auction Service in Irvington.  He served as the Washington County Treasurer for 24 years, farmed for many years, worked at Lampe Construction and was the former Police Chief in Irvington.  He was a member of St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden where he was active in the Men’s Club, Historical Society and sang in the choir.  He was a 4H leader for many years, member of the Irvington Ruritan club, Washington County Extension Foundation, Washington County Fair Board and past member of the Irvington School Board.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 20, 2016 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in New Minden with Rev. Timothy Mueller officiating.  Burial will follow in the Friedens UCC Cemetery in Irvington.  Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday and 10:00 to 10:45 a.m. on Friday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Washington County Extension Education Foundation or St. John’s Church Historical Society. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
