Verdell C. Niermann 84 of Hoyleton, passed away at 1:48 a.m. on Sunday, February 19, 2017 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville. She was born on March 3, 1932 in rural Hoyleton, the daughter of August H. and Clara C. Prueshner Bartling. She married Louis H. Niermann, Jr. on December 9, 1955 in Hoyleton and he survives. In addition to her husband, Mrs. Niermann is survived by 2 daughters; Natalie Brammeier and husband Daryl of Oakdale and Jennifer Niermann of Hoyleton. A granddaughter; Kourtney Engele and husband Matt of Mascoutah. A brother in law; Eugene Twenhafel of Carlyle and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, sisters; Viola Twenhafel and Melba Schnitker and her husband Harold, along with her still born sister; Laverne Bartling.
After graduating from Centralia High School, Verdell worked as a bookkeeper for Paul Fark Implement in Hoyleton. A dedicated and loving daughter, she then became the full time caregiver for her mother for 14 years. She was a loyal member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton where she was active in the Ladies Aid and Lutheran Women’s Missionary League. She loved to share recipes with her sisters and go shopping with her girls. She cherished and adored her only granddaughter whom she loved very much. Verdell will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 23, 2017 at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Nathan Wollenberg officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 12:00 p.m. until service time on Thursday at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to the Trinity Lutheran Church or School. Styninger Funeral & Cremation Chapel in Hoyleton is in charge of arrangements.
