Sara Margaret Hake, 80 of Nashville, passed away at 1:10 p.m. on Monday, November 21, 2016 at Friendship Manor Health Center in Nashville. She was born on October 22, 1936 in Benton, the daughter of Jerry and Margaret Aikin Lovan. She married Roger C. Hake on August 10, 1957 in Murphysboro and he passed away on March 16, 2012. Left to mourn her passing is a son; Gary (Teresa) Hake of Nashville, a daughter; Lauri (George) Heckert of Venedy, 4 grandchildren; Jenny (Randall) Stateler of O’Fallon, Meagan (Lucas) Frederking of Venedy, Clifton (Amie) Hake of Richview and Kourtney Hake of Nashville. A great grandchild; Raeylynn Frederking. A brother; Bob (Brenda) Lovan of Woodstock, VA, a sister; Laura (Jim) Wright of Murphysboro and a sister in law; MaryLee (Sheldon) Prais of Libertyville.
Sara received her Bachelor’s degree in Education from Southern Illinois University at Carbondale. She was a home economics and later a special education teacher at Nashville Community High School where she started the student work study program. She was a member of Grace United Methodist church in Nashville where she taught Sunday School and was involved in various activities. She served on the Board of Directors of the Washington County Workshop and was a member of the Washington County retired teachers. Sara enjoyed cooking, sewing, playing bridge, entertaining and spending time with her family and grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, November 28th at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. William Bunnage officiating. Private burial will follow at North Prairie Cemetery near Hoyleton. Friends may call from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to Alzheimer Research, Washington County Workshop or Grace United Methodist church
