Marilyn J. King, 76, of Nashville, IL, passed away January 18, 2017 at SSM Good Samaritan Hospital. 

Marilyn was born in Springfield, IL to Roy and Marguarite Luttrell on November 18, 1940.  Her parents preceded her in death when she was just an infant.  She was cared for by her grandmother until she was adopted by John and Velia Gellerman of Petersburg, IL at the age of 3 years of age.  She grew up in Petersburg where she spent her summers in New Salem State Park where her father worked as postmaster.  Marilyn graduated from Petersburg Harris High School in 1958.  She attended St. John’s School of Nursing in Springfield and graduated in 1963.  After graduation she was joined in marriage to Jerry King and they moved to Chicago for 1 year.  They lived in Taylorville, IL for 3 years where she worked as a nurse at Taylorville Memorial Hospital. Marilyn and Jerry then moved to Nashville, IL where they have resided since 1966.  She worked at Washington County Hospital as a director of nursing.  Marilyn and Jerry were also owners of King Funeral Home until 1975. After that time, they became owner/operators in the long term care profession, beginning King Management Company. She was a member of Grace United Methodist church and was a member of the choir and involved in the Women’s Club in her younger years.  After the birth of her fourth child, she stayed at home and devoted her time to her family, her number one priority. She enjoyed traveling, shopping and going to lunch with friends and family, cooking, baking and making cream puffs and hot fudge sauce.  She also enjoyed cookies and coffee and loved spending the winters in Bonita Springs, Florida for the last several years. 

She is preceded in death by her parents, a brother, Donald Luttrell, sister, Dolores Doyen and close niece, Marcia Allen.  

She is survived by her brother, Edward Luttrell of Springfield; her husband Jerry King, Nashville, IL; daughter, Michelle Hirschfeld and husband Bill of South Carolina; daughter, Denise King and husband Mike of St. Louis; son, Keith King and wife Amie of O’Fallon; daughter, Leslie Pedtke and husband Tim of Ashley, IL; Elizabeth King of Chesterfield, MO.  She is also survived by seven grandchildren; Bryce Hirschfeld, 23; Bryn Hirschfeld, 20; Troy Pedtke, 19; Cole Pedtke, 17; Luke Pedtke, 13; Lily Todorova, 6; Hazel Todorova, 3.  Also, her sister in law; Shirley (Edward) Clayton of Nashville.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, January 23, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. William Bunnage officiating.  Burial will follow in the Greenwood Cemetery in Nashville.  Friends may call from 3:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday  at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Arthritis Foundation or Nashville Community High School.
