Gary M. Schindelar 57 of Ashley, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Friday, September 1, 2017 in Ashley.  He was born on November 17, 1959 in Centralia, the son of Melvin and Esther Schorfheide Schindelar.  He married Linda Triller on September 23, 1995 at St. Paul United Church of Christ in Nashville and she survives in Ashley.  Also left to mourn his passing are 4 step daughters; Teresa (Aaron) Nighelli of Aurora, Patricia Whitlock of Dallas, TX. Krista (Joshua Smith) Whitlock of Springfield and Jessica (Phillip) Hutchings of Arnold, MO. 2 step grandchildren; Noah and Zander Hutchings.  A sister; Linda (Cliff) Hale of Morton and a nephew Justin (Vanessa) Hale of East Peoria.  He was preceded in death by his parents.

Gary was a graduate of Nashville Community High School and was a retired driver for Schmale’s bulk milk hauling of Nashville.  He was an avid collector of trains, enjoyed his cats, loved rock and roll and NASCAR, especially Dale Earnhardt. 

A private graveside service will be held at St. Paul UCC cemetery in Nashville.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Washington County Historical Society railroad depot. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
