Edith I. Seeger, 80 of Hoffman, passed away at 9:17 a.m. on Friday, November 18, 2016 at her daughter’s home in Henderson, KY. She was born on August 20, 1936 in Halberstadt, Germany the daughter of Alfred and Margarita Dater. She married Gerhard “Doc” Seeger on November 26, 1955 in Bremerhaven, Germany and he passed away on January 12, 1985. Also preceding her in death were her parents, 2 brothers; Alfred and Udo Dater, a sister; Renata Schweiger and a grandson; Staff Sgt. Jordan Emrick. Left to mourn her passing are 3 sons; Gary (Cathy) Seeger of Nashville, Tony (Shirley) Seeger of Hoyleton and Herb Seeger and fiance’ Stefanie Zanders of Highland. 2 daughters; Doris (Terry) Emrick of Henderson, KY and Anita (Harry) Dushac of Indiana, PA. 12 grandchildren; Nicole Maddox, Jason Seeger, Christi Payne, Brandon Emrick, Brittany Aussieker, Lucas Dushac, Kendra McCarthy, Joshua, Justin, Jacob, Ty and Hannah Seeger. 10 great grandchildren and a special friend; Gus Unverfehrt of Hoyleton.
After coming to America, Edith worked side by side with her husband “Doc” in their business; Hoyleton Masonry Company. She retired from Jim's Formal Wear in Trenton. She was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton where she was active in the Ladies Aid. She was a member of the Hoyleton Community Club and along with her husband they helped to start the Hoyleton Hofbraufest. She enjoyed playing the harmonica, accordion and bowling.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1st at Trinity Lutheran Church in Hoyleton with Rev. Mark Moog officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Wednesday, November 30th at Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville and one hour prior to services at the church. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Anthony Hospice of Henderson, KY or Trinity Lutheran church in Hoyleton.
