Delbert E. “Butch” Doehring 88 of Nashville, passed away at 1:05 a.m. on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville.  He was born on July 21, 1928 in Shelby County the son of Martin A. and Florence Jones Doehring.  He married Dorothy Mae Utley on January 4, 1949 in Madisonville, KY and she survives.  Besides his wife of 68 years, left to mourn his passing is a son; Charles A. “Tony” (Judy) Doehring of Nashville.  2 daughters; Karen (Edd) Williams of Louisville, IL and Patricia (K.C.) Hall of Columbus, OH. 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. 3 brothers; Charles (Marty) Doehring and Richard (Arlene) Doehring both of Stewardson, IL and Leverett (Margaret) Doehring of Villa Ridge, MO.  A sister; Judy (Jerry) Allen of Mode, IL.  He was preceded in death by his parents and a daughter; Pamela Tomaszewski.

Mr. Doehring retired in 1984 as parts manager for National Mine Service. In his younger years, he was an accomplished athlete as he held the Illinois High School Association record for most points scored in a basketball game (72) for several years.  After high school, “Butch” signed a contract with the Chicago White Sox where he played in their minor league system for 2 years.  He was a long time member of Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville and enjoyed fishing and playing golf.

A celebration of life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 24th at Trinity Lutheran Church in Nashville with Rev. Aaron Kotila officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Monday at the church.  Memorial contributions may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church of a charity of the donor’s choice.  Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
