David Merle McClintock, 84 of Nashville, passed away at 5:40 a.m. on Wednesday, May 11, 2016 at Washington County Hospital in Nashville.  He was born on May 15, 1931 in Pittsfield, the son of George Merle and Carmen Ator Gleckler McClintock.  He married Mary E. Wagner on November 26, 1953 in Perry and she passed away on July 8, 2005.  Left to mourn his passing is a son; Mark McClintock of Nashville and a daughter; Karen (James) Zellmer of St. Louis, MO.  2 granddaughters; Caitlin and Jenna McClintock.

Mr. McClintock was a veteran of the United States Army serving most of his tour of duty in Europe and received his Masters Degree in school administration from Western Illinois University and his specialist degree from Southern Illinois University.  He was the Superintendent at Nashville Community High School  District 99 for many years. Prior to coming to Nashville, David taught and coached basketball at Bardolph School in Western Illinois and served as principal at Pleasant Hill Elementary. He held numerous professional positions.  He was appointed to the Illinois Financial Accounting Committee.  Under State Superintendent Michael Bakalis, David was a member of the IASA-OSPI Advisory Committee.  He was a member of the Board of Directors of the IHSA where held the office of president.  He also served as president of the Egyptian Region of the IASA and received the Award for Merit for Marion, Clinton and Washington Counties.

David was a member of Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville, Washington Lodge #55 AF&AM and enjoyed hunting, especially deer hunting on his farm in Pike County and duck hunting in Southern Illinois.

Funeral services will be held at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, May 13, 2016 at Grace United Methodist Church in Nashville with Rev. William Bunnage officiating.  Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the church.  There will be a Masonic Service at 7:15 p.m.  Burial will be at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, 2016 at Summer Hill Cemetery in Summer Hill.  Memorial contributions may be made to the Shriners Hospital for Crippled Children. Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville is in charge of arrangements.
