H. (Harry) Beldon Campbell, 92, of Nashville, Illinois, passed away at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 25, 2017, at Friendship Manor in Nashville, Illinois.  Beldon was born on November 7, 1924, in Shelby County, Illinois, to Harry and Rose Campbell.  He married Berneda Charles on November 25, 1947, in Stryker, Ohio.

He is survived by two sons, Garry (Sandy) Campbell of Russell, Pennsylvania, and Len (Terry) Campbell of Nashville, Illinois, one daughter, Brenda (Duane) Riech of Carrollton, Texas; eight grandchildren, Joshua Campbell, Jacob (Vanessa) Campbell, Sarah (Joshua) Lazzara, Jonathan (Ashley) Campbell, Rachel (Connor) Payne, Jennifer (John) McDowell, Josey Campbell, and Kevin Riech; and four great-grandchildren, Zoe Campbell, Kelsey Campbell, Beau and Dane McDowell. He is also survived by sister Joyce (LeRoi) Danielson, and brothers Dwight (Anita) Campbell and Gerald (Brenda) Campbell, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Berneda, in 2011, his parents, and two sisters, Julia Campbell and Virginia Osborne.

Growing up on the farm, he deeply cherished his rural upbringing. As a young man, he worked several jobs in and around Shelbyville, Illinois, including factory, farm, janitorial work, and retail sales. After moving to the Springfield area, he obtained his insurance license and worked for several insurance companies before founding his own independent insurance agency in Chatham, Illinois. In 1996, he retired and moved to Nashville.

Beldon’s life was defined by his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ.  He was, most recently, a member of the Concord Baptist Church in Rice, Illinois.  During his lifetime, he was active in several Christian ministries. These included memberships in the Springfield Christian Business Men’s Committee, the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship, and Gideon’s International. He served as Director for the Shelby County Youth for Christ and later volunteered with the Springfield Salvation Army as chaplain and counselor. For many years, he ministered through his “Come On In Ministries”, a computer-based gospel outreach. He enjoyed reading, studying the Bible, writing poetry, and sharing his poems and love of Jesus Christ with others.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, March 3, 2017 at Concord Baptist Church in Rice with Rev.’s Mark Camp and William Bunnage officiating.  Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Friends may call from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Styninger Funeral Home in Nashville.  Memorial contributions are suggested and may be made to Friendship Manor, the Gideon’s or Salvation Army.
